Biographical Information[edit]

Jim Mahady had a very brief cup of coffee in the majors, appearing in one game but never making a plate appearance.

Primarily a pitcher in the minors, the 20-yead-old Mahady made his sole big league appearance as an infielder with the New York Giants on the final day of the 1921 season. Playing second base, he got one assist but never had the chance to come to bat.

Mahady pitched in the minors for several teams from 1923 to 1928. He won 19 games in the New York-Pennsylvania League in 1924 and recorded 15 victories for the Salisbury Indians in 1927.

In 1930, after his baseball career had ended, Mahady was charged with second-degree manslaughter after fatally striking a woman with his car while driving drunk. He was sentenced to six years in prison but was released after three years when the Governor of New York commuted his sentence. He died at age 34.
