Biographical Information[edit]
Jim Duncan played in the majors for a couple of teams that lost a lot of games. He was with the Washington Senators in 1899, a team that lost 98 games, and that released him in August. Then he was with the Cleveland Spiders, perhaps the worst team of all time, which lost 134 games. A busy fellow, he also appeared for two minor league teams that year.
While with the Spiders, he was the same age as the famous Louis Sockalexis, who had briefly been with the team earlier in the season.
Only one other major leaguer has been born in Saltsburg, PA: Jack Wieneke.
