Biographical Information[edit]

Jesse McClain spent nine years in the minor leagues and had decent success -- though one campaign stood out among the rest. In 1950, with the Harlingen Capitals, McClain hit .356/.455/.704 with 53 home runs, 173 RBI, 168 runs, 207 hits and 31 stolen bases in 147 games. He led the league in homers, RBI and hits, but missed out on the Triple Crown -- Lloyd Pearson led the league with a .383 batting mark.

Though McClain never reached those numbers in any other season, he did hit 23 home runs one year and 19 dingers twice.
