Biographical Information[edit]
Jesse Fowler and Art Fowler were brothers. Their major league debuts were separated by 29 years, easily a record. (Next were Gus Williams and Harry Williams, and John Paciorek and Jim Paciorek, both at 23 years.)
Jesse was on the St. Louis Cardinals in 1924, a team that finished well under .500 in spite of Rogers Hornsby hitting .424. Jesse's ERA of 4.41, while higher than the team average of 4.15, was nevertheless better than several of the starters.
He went 15-8 on the 1931 Houston Buffaloes, a team that won 108 games and also featured a young Dizzy Dean.
One source says he also played Textile League baseball in South Carolina.
