Biographical Information[edit]

Jerry Terrell pitched an inning in 1979, and another inning in 1980, both for the Kansas City Royals. Each time he was successful, giving up no runs. He started his career as a promising shortstop, but eventually settled into the role of utility player, playing just about anywhere on the diamond.

In 1980, he was the Royals' player representative, and was the only player (against 582) to vote against a proposed strike (which eventually took place in 1981); his deep religious convictions made him view the strike proposal as immoral.

Terrell missed the 1969 season due to military service.

In 1989 Terrell played for the Fort Myers Sun Sox of the Senior Professional Baseball Association. He batted .278 in 31 games. In 1990, he again played for the Sun Sox. He played in 7 games that year and batted .214 before the league folded.

His son, infielder Jim Terrell, was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the third round of the 1996 amateur draft but never reached the majors.

Terrell managed in the Kansas City Royals (1987) and Chicago White Sox chains. He was later a scout for the Montreal Expos.
