Biographical Information[edit]

Jeremy Beckham was a minor league infielder. He is the older brother of Tim Beckham.

Beckham was his high school team's captain as a junior and senior. As a freshman at Georgia Southern, he hit .291/.398/.337 in a part-time role. As a sophomore, he batted .347/.440/.444 in 33 games. He became a regular as a junior and produced at a .254/.366/.339 clip with 28 steals in 30 tries and fielded .959 at second base. He was 40th in NCAA Division I in steals per game (0.46). As a senior, Jeremy hit .333/.434/.386 with 24 stolen bases (he was caught 5 times) and fielded .973. On March 15, he was part of a NCAA-record barrage with one of GSU's 14 home runs in a single game against Columbia University. Beckham was taken in the 17th round of the 2008 amateur draft by the Tampa Bay Rays, 16 rounds after they took his brother Tim first overall.

Jeremy and Tim were assigned to the Princeton Rays; Jeremy debuted first, going 0 for 4 with two strikeouts on June 19. He hit .286/.333/.357 in his first 6 games and stole successfully in his only try. He hit .240/.339/.280 in 42 games between Princeton and the Hudson Valley Renegades. After an unsuccessful year in 2009, his professional career was over.
