Biographical Information[edit]

Jeff Rineer pitched one inning for the Baltimore Orioles in 1979, giving up no runs. The Orioles won the pennant and went on to take the 1979 World Series to seven games.

Rineer (through 2009) is one of only two major leaguers out of Franklin & Marshall College, with the other one being Don Wert. Rineer was at Franklin and Marshall in 1974 and 1975 and was drafted in the secondary phase of the 1975 amateur draft by the Orioles.

He moved his way up the Orioles minor league organization. In 1976 with the Miami Orioles he had a record of 8-3 in relief with an ERA of 2.62. He spent 1978to 1980 with the Rochester Red Wings, and went 9-4 in 1978, primarily as a reliever.
