Biographical Information[edit]
First baseman Jeff Malinoff was selected by the California Angels in the 1974 amateur draft and played parts of three seasons in their organization. Most notably, he hit .234 with 1 home run in 44 games for the Salinas Packers in 1975. Following his playing days, he was a scout for the Seattle Mariners (1977-1987) and Detroit Tigers (1989-?), signing Larry Patterson, Harold Reynolds, Logan White, Bill Wilkinson and Clint Zavaras among others. He was an Angels cross-checker when they drafted Mike Trout.
With Team USA in the 1972 Amateur World Series, he drew the bases-loaded walk in the 10th to beat Nicaragua and a two-run single in the 11th to beat Taiwan before homering off Cuba in a loss in the title game.
