Biographical Information[edit]
Slugger Jeff Ledbetter was a star at Florida State University, setting the NCAA Division I record with 97 home runs in his college career and being named Baseball America Player of the Year in 1982. His record was later broken by Pete Incaviglia and he is currently (2009) number 2. He was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the first round of the 1982 amateur draft but struggled in three seasons in their organization. He was eventually released by the club, hooking up with the St. Louis Cardinals system in 1985-1986.
