Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Jeff Kraus was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies 17th overall in the 1976 amateur draft, one pick after Pat Tabler and ahead of catcher Mike Scioscia and pitcher Bruce Hurst. He played in the minors from 1977 to 1981, peaking at Double-A.

Fleet of foot, Kraus stole 17 bases his first campaign and 21 his next. Though he slumped in 1979 to a .233/.311/.315 line for the Reading Phillies, he rebounded in 1980 to hit .302/.360/.410 with nine triples for the same club. He wound up in the Cincinnati Reds system in 1981 to wrap up his career.

Overall, Kraus hit .256/.328/.342 with 50 stolen bases in 583 games.
