Jeff Greenberg
Jeff Greenberg
Biographical information[edit]
Jeff Greenberg was named General Manager of the Detroit Tigers on September 21, 2023. He took over for President of Baseball Operations Scott Harris, who had been assuming both duties for the past year, since the firing of Alex Avila.
Greenberg had been working as Assistant GM of the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League prior to being hired by Detroit, but before that he had had a long career in baseball front offices. He had first started working with the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Pittsburgh Pirates, then joined the Chicago Cubs in 2011 where he was director of pro scouting, director of baseball operations and assistant GM, working for Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer. Harris had also worked for the Cubs during that period. He had moved to the Blackhawks in 2022, the connection coming naturally since he had played hockey in college.
He is originally from Pittsburgh, PA and his father, Chuck Greenberg owned the Texas Rangers at one point.
