Jean Marlowe played six seasons in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, primarily as a pitcher, but also seeing time at first base, second base and in the outfield.
Marlowe debuted in 1948 with the last-place Springfield Sallies and went 7-22 with a 3.66 ERA. She led the league in losses in that tough-luck environment. In 1949, Marlowe moved to the Kenosha Comets, going 7-7 with a 2.67 ERA. She played regularly in the outfield and hit .220/~.292/.275 while stealing 16 bases in 98 games. In the playoffs, she was 0 for 7 at the plate.
In 1950, Jean hit .211/~.277/.266 while posting a 12-12, 2.42 record. She was 0-1 with a 10.81 ERA in a game 3 playoff loss to the Rockford Peaches and went 0 for 2 at the plate. Marlowe batted .174/~.297/.179 in 1951 while having a 12-15, 2.52 pitching ledger with a career-high 116 strikeouts in 211 IP. She was sixth in the league in innings pitched, fourth in strikeouts and tied for sixth in complete games (21).
Marlowe hit .291/~.365/.442 for the Kalamazoo Lassies in 1952 while having a 10-11, 3.24 record on the mound. She did not playi n 1953 but returned for the league's final season in 1954. The 24-year-old hurler was 8-12 with a 4.78 ERA and 114 walks in 147 IP.
Overall, Marlowe was 56-79 in the AAGPBL, with a 3.18 ERA.
