Biographical Information[edit]
Jay Baller was one of the five players dealt to the Cleveland Indians for "Ol' Five-For-One" Von Hayes by the Phillies after the 1982 season, having debuted with Philly that September. He was the first three-time Closer of the Year in the Venezuelan League; Rich Garces would pass him with four times winning that award. His 56 saves are 11th in league history through November 2019; he had retired third all-time.
