Pitcher Javier Martinez played in the Mexican Rookie League, Mexican Northern League, Florida Instructional League South and Mexican League from 1968 to 1971 and from 1973 to 1981 for the Mexicali Aguilas (1968), Empalme Rieleros (1968), FIL Mexico (1969), Puebla Pericos (1969, 1973-1974), Yucatan Leones (1970-1971, 1973, 1981), Villahermosa Cardenales (1975), Nuevo Laredo Tecolotes (1976), Coahuila Mineros (1976), Tampico Alijadores (1977), Tabasco Plataneros (1978-1980) and Union Laguna Diablos Blancos (1980).
He also managed the Piratas de Campeche in 1993, replacing Alfredo Ortiz partway through the season, 1994, and 1995, being replaced by Leonel Carrión partway through the year. In 1996 and 1997, he managed the Yucatan Leones. He skippered the Langosteros de Cancún in 2001, being replaced by Marco Antonio Guzman partway through the season.
