Biographical Information[edit]

Javier Cruz pitched in the minors leagues and the CPBL.

Cruz began his professional with the Cafeteros de Cordoba in 1991, and he pitched for the Diablos Rojos del Mexico from 1992 to 1994. He went to the Broncos de Reynosa from 1995 to 1996, and he returned to the Diablos from 1997 to 1998. Cruz notched 15 saves with a 2.90 ERA in 48 games in Mexico City in 1999, and he also had a 1.59 ERA in 8 games for the Wei Chuan Dragons of Taiwan in 1999. Cruz went 7-3 in 53 games for the Diablos in 2000, but his ERA rose to 5.83. He then recorded a 3.71 ERA in 43 games in 2001, then he improved to a 1.84 ERA in 37 games in 2002. Cruz only pitched 4 games in 2003, and he left the Diablos after the 2004 season.

The Rojos del Aguila de Veracruz then signed him, and Cruz had a 16.20 ERA in 7 games in 2005. He recorded a 4.58 ERA in 31 games in 2006, but his ERA rose to 7.59 in 9 games for the Potros de Tijuana in 2007. He left Tijuana in July, and he had a 1.59 ERA in 19 games with the Olmecas de Tabasco. Cruz then went to the Pericos de Puebla in 2008, but his ERA was 8.56 in 31 appearances, then his professional career ended.
