Biographical Information[edit]
Jason Schwabe played for Team Canada.
Schwabe set Mayville State records for steals in a season (60) and career (124) and was All-Conference all three years. [1] He was a utility man for Canada in the 1990 Baseball World Cup, backing up John Leonard at SS, Rex Hayes and Jim Kotkas in RF, Rob Butler in CF and three players (including Kotkas) in LF. He was 0 for 11 with 4 walks, a steal and 3 runs while handling 11 putouts, 2 assists and one error. [2] He was also with Canada for the 1990 Goodwill Games. [3] He then returned to Mayville State as a football player, winning All-Conference as a wide receiver. He was drafted by the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. [4] He was later a teacher then high school principal for Thompson Public Schools and was inducted into Mayville's Hall of Fame. [5]
