Biographical information

A relief pitcher, Jason Kerr pitched in the minor leagues from 1990 to 1994.

He was originally drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 26th round of the 1989 amateur draft. He opted not to sign. In the 1990 amateur draft, he was drafted in the eighth round by the Los Angeles Dodgers, and that time around, he did sign.

He began his professional career that year with the Great Falls Dodgers, making 19 appearances and going 1-1 with a 3.57 ERA, striking out 40 in 35 1/3 innings of work.

In 1991, he played with both the Yakima Bears and Bakersfield Dodgers. With the Bears, he appeared in 13 games, posting a 1.57 ERA and 0-0 record with 34 strikeouts in 23 innings of work. For the Bakersfield Dodgers, he appeared in 11 games, posting a 1-1 record with a 5.40 ERA in 10 innings. He also struck out ten batters and walked eight. Overall, he went 1-1 with 2.73 ERA in 24 appearances.

In 1992, he pitched for the Vero Beach Dodgers, going 3-2 with a 4.15 ERA in 37 relief appearances. In 43 1/3 innings, he walked 24 batters and struck out 39.

Kerr wound up in the San Diego Padres organization in 1993. Pitching for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, he went 0-1 with a 11.25 ERA in six games.

Kerr joined the Thunder Bay Whiskey Jacks in 1994, going 3-4 with a 4.73 ERA in 32 1/3 innings.

Overall, Kerr went 8-9 in 115 career appearances. In 155 2/3 innings, he walked 97 batters.
