Biographical Information[edit]

Utilityman Jason Hill played professionally from 1996 to 2003. He was originally taken by the Seattle Mariners in the 33rd round of the 1994 amateur draft, but opted not to sign. He did sign after being taken by the Houston Astros in the 8th round of the 1996 amateur draft, one pick ahead of pitcher Jerrod Riggan and a few ahead of utilityman Willie Bloomquist.

He spent only 50 games in the Astros system, hitting .274/.353/.451 in 164 at-bats over two seasons for the GCL Astros. He then joined the independent ranks, playing there from 1998 to 2003. He found his hitting stroke at that level, posting batting averages of .345, .303, .330, .311, .327 and .288, respectively. He slugged as high as .611 (in 1998) and posted an on-base percentage as high as .381 (in 2000).

In indy ball, he hit .315/.366/.480 with 41 home runs, 223 RBI and 400 hits in 355 games over 6 seasons. Overall, he hit .310/.365/.476 with 45 home runs, 259 RBI and 445 hits in 405 games over 8 seasons.
