Biographical Information[edit]

Jason Botts was drafted by the Texas Rangers as a draft-and-follow pick in the 46th round of the 1999 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Tim Fortugno the next year and made his pro debut in 2000. In 93 games over 4 seasons with the Rangers, he batted .230/.325/.344. Botts joined the Nippon Ham Fighters during the 2008 season, replacing Mitch Jones. He hit .254/.327/.423 in 55 games, a vast improvement over Jones. He would suit up in 11 more games in 2009, returning to the US and finishing his professional career in 2014.
