Biographical Information[edit]

Jared Theodorakos played in the Olympics.

Theodorakos was 18-7 with a 3.25 ERA in high school in St. Louis, MO and hit .463 with 21 homers and 115 RBI. He made All-State twice. As a college freshman at Baylor University, he was 2-0 with a 1.69 ERA in 2000 then improved to 6-3, 3.86 in 2001. As a junior, he struck out 105, 10 shy of Big 12 Conference leader Shane Komine. The Colorado Rockies took him 49th in the 2002 amateur draft but he didn't sign. He missed most of 2003 due to injury and had surgery on a torn labrum in April. The Milwaukee Brewers took him in the 25th round of the 2003 amateur draft. After being redshirted in 2003, Jared returned to Baylor for a senior season in 2004 and was 3-4 with a 4.85 ERA.

Pitching for the 2004 Helena Brewers, Jared got his only US pro action, with a 6.11 ERA and no decisions in 9 games (8 starts). He pitched for Greece in the 2004 Olympics, going 0-1 with a 8.00 ERA. He allowed 16 hits in 9 innings, giving up the most hits on the Greek squad. He got the start against Norge Vera and the Cuban national team and did better than might be expected, allowing four runs in seven innings before giving way to Pete Sikaras; Greece only lost 6-5. Starting versus the Italian national team, he was roughed up for eight hits and three runs in three innings before giving way to Peter Soteropoulos. Greece rallied to win 12-7 for their lone victory of the Games (Sikaras got the decision).
