Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Jared Solomon went to two postsecondary institutions not known for producing major league players: Alderson Broaddus University in Philippi, WV has produced only one major leaguer - contemporary pitcher Randy Dobnak, and he was the first major leaguer to come out of Lackawanna College, to which he transfered. He was intending to attend Xavier University after junior college, but he signed with the Cincinnati Reds after being drafted in the 11th round of the 2017 amateur draft, and put these plans on hold.

He reached the majors with the Cincinnati Reds, being added to the roster as the 27th man for a doubleheader against the Pittsburgh Pirates on May 7, 2022. He pitched a scoreless 9th inning in the second game, an 8-5 loss.
