Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Jared Johnson played two seasons in the farm system of the Washington Nationals after being drafted by the Nats with their 17th pick in the 2017 amateur draft.

His first assignment after joining the Nationals was with the GCL Nationals, and in only his second career start on July 23rd, he was part of a historic day in a doubleheader against the GCL Marlins. That day, the Nationals' pitchers threw a seven-inning no-hitter in both ends of the twin bill. First, Joan Baez and Jose Jimenez combined their efforts in a 4-0 win in the opener, then Jared threw four hitless innings and turned the ball over to Gilberto Chu who completed the day's work with three perfect innings in a 1-0 win in the second game. A week later, Jared was promoted to the Auburn Doubledays of the New York-Penn League, having gone 1-1, 0.64 in 7 games in the Gulf Coast League. He finished the year by going 1-2, 5.23 with Auburn, for a total of 34 2/3 innings between the two stops.

In 2018, he moved up again, this time to the Hagerstown Suns of the South Atlantic League, but struggled badly, as he went 0-2, 5.01 in 17 games as a reliever, allowing 34 hits and 23 walks in 32 1/3 innings. He was released by the Nationals the following spring, ending his brief professional career.
