Biographical Information[edit]

James Meeker started his collegiate career as an infielder playing for the University of Akron, but the school dropped baseball after the 2015 season, and he was forced to transfer the University of Delaware to continue playing. In his two seasons there, he gradually transitioned to the mound, going 4-2, 3.23 with 6 saves in 26 games in his senior season in 2018. He was not a bad hitter either, as in two seasons in the summer collegiate Prospect League in 2016 and 2017, he hit .402 and .357. He was undrafted and had to start his professional career in the independent leagues, with the Washington Wild Things of the Frontier League.
