Biographical Information[edit]
Jamal Zalm has played in the minors and for the Curaçao national team.
He was signed by Milwaukee Brewers scout Jairo Castillo. [1] As a backup infielder, he hit .274/.370/.393 for the '21 DSL Brewers 1 and stealing 15 bases in 16 tries. He split 2022 between the DSL Brewers 2 (6 for 19, BB, 2B) and ACL Brewers Blue (.202/.336/.319 in 34 G). He was 5-for-5 in steals to put his career minor league rate at 95.2%!
Zalm was a late addition to Curaçao's squad for the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games. In their opener, he pinch-hit for Andrelton Simmons late in a win over El Salvador and was plunked by Mario Velasco. He stayed in at short. Pinch-running for Ortwin Pieternella Jr., he scored the winning run against Puerto Rico when he raced home on a hit by Ericson Leónora. He finished the event 1-for-3, his hit coming off Nicaragua's Fidencio Flores. Between right field and short, he handled 3 putouts and one assist. [2]
