Biographical Information

While at East Carolina University, Jake Smith was given the Johnny Bench Award in 2006 as the nation's best college catcher. He was then selected by the Oakland Athletics in the 21st round of the 2006 amateur draft. He played three years in their organization, never playing above the Class A level.
