Biographical Information[edit]
Jake Joseph pitched in the New York Mets system from 1999 to 2005. He was originally drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 34th round of the 1997 amateur draft, a couple of picks after pitcher Carl Sadler and ahead of pitcher Dan Wheeler, then by the Mets in the 2nd round of the 1999 amateur draft, one pick after shortstop Drew Meyer.
He had success in the early going, posting a 3-2 record and a 2.91 ERA in 1999, then a 4-3, 2.85 line in 2000. After a down 2001 (4-12, 5.34), he rebounded to 9-8, 3.42 in 2002. He pitched his first game at Triple A that year, allowing 5 runs in 3 2/3 innings in a single start. In his first extended stay at Triple A in 2003, he went 5-6 with a 5.93 ERA in 71 1/3 innings; he was 7-10, 5.78 on the year overall. In 2004, he rebounded to 7-1, 3.63 in 40 games in a relief role, then posted a 1.80 ERA in 10 appearances in 2005 to wrap up his career.
He went 34-37 with a 4.15 ERA in 159 games (98 starts) overall.
