Biographical Information[edit]

Jaison Chourio is the younger brother of major league outfielder Jackson Chourio. An outfielder himself, he was signed by the Cleveland Guardians as an international amateur free agent on January 15, 2022.

He started his professional career in 2022 with the DSL Guardians Red, hitting .280/.446/.402 in 40 games. He walked 40 times (or once per game) while striking out just 22 and was named a Dominican Summer League All-Star. After playing briefly for the Aguilas del Zulia in the Venezuelan League the following winter, in spite of his very young age, he moved over to the U.S. in 2023. He started off with the ACL Guardians then after 39 games was promoted to the Lynchburg Hillcats of the Carolina League for another 9 games. Once again, he posted an excellent slash line, finishing at .321/.446/.419, with 20 stolen bases in 22 attempts. He was named an Arizona Complex League and Rookie-Class All-Star and also a Guardians organizational All-Star. He again played for Zulia after the season.

In 2024, while his brother was making his big league debut at the start of the year, he was assigned to Lynchburg to start the season and continued to show some great hitting and on-base skills. He was named to represent the American League at the 2024 Futures Game.
