Jaime Jaen has played on and off for the Panamanian national team.

In 2004, Jaen joined fellow Panamanian Carlos Muñoz in playing for Saim Rho in Italy. He led the team in average, OBP and slugging with a batting line of .324/.374/.401 while playing primarily third base.

Jaen hit .349/.429/.488 in the 2005 Baseball World Cup and fielded .969 as Panama's starting second baseman. He was 1 for 4 with a run in the Bronze Medal game 7-6 win over the host Dutch national team but made an error that led to two unearned runs. In the 2006 COPABE Olympic Qualifier, Jaime batted .160/.344/.320 but handled all 35 chances without an error, turning five double plays. He was named the Best Defensive Player of the tourney. He went just 2 for 19 in the 2006 Central American and Caribbean Games. During the 2008 Americas Baseball Cup, Jaen hit .333/.391/.333 with 7 runs in 6 games but Panama failed to qualify for the 2009 Baseball World Cup. He tied for 6th in the Cup in runs.
