Biographical Information[edit]

Jacobo Garrido played in the Division de Honor and for the Spanish national team.

A Venezuelan-Spanish dual citizen [1], Garrido played one game for Spain in the 2003 European Championship. Pinch-running for Javier Zabalza in a 5-4 win over Russia, he took over at second base for Zabalza. He went 0 for 2 with a whiff and handled two putouts. [2]

Division de Honor stats online go back to 2008 (as of 5/14/19). He did not play in 2008. In 2009, he batted .318/.375/.364 and fielded .846 in limited time for the champion Marlins Puerto Cruz. [3] In the 2010 European Cup, he hit .214/.214/.286. [4] He had a solid Division de Honor campaign at .318/.403/.364 while fielding .964. [5] In '11, he slumped to .205/.302/.329 on offense with a .903 fielding percentage. [6]

Garrido did not play in the Division de Honor in 2012 but returned on a strong note in 2013 to help the Marlins win the pennant (.328/~.449/.569, 15 R in 19 G, though he fielded only .783). [7] In 2014, he was a solid bench player for the champion Marlins - 8 for 25, 2B, 6 BB, 11 R. [8] He did not play in '15 and was 1 for 3 with a walk in 2016. [9] He was 0 for 6 with two walks, two runs and a RBI during 2017. [10] He did not play in 2018.

He became president of the Federación Canaria de Beisbol y Sofbol in 2018. [11]
