Jacky Jacoba
Jacky Jacoba set a Hoofdklasse record with 18 home runs in 1983, breaking Hudson John's 13-year-old mark by one. A year later, Jacoba smacked 24. Since then, Elston Hansen's 23 in 1998 was the closest anyone came to Jacoba's record. The league has now switched from aluminum to wooden bats, making it highly unlikely anyone will surpass Jacoba unless the schedule expands significantly. He was with the Dutch national team when they won Gold Medals at the 1985 European Championship and 1987 European Championship and when they won Silver at the 1991 European Championship. He played in the 1988 Olympics. He also appeared in the 1984 Amateur World Series, 1986 Amateur World Series, 1988 Baseball World Cup (4 for 24, 2 BB, 2B, starting at DH) and 1990 Baseball World Cup (.240/.269/.280, again at DH). After his baseball career ended, he became a softball player.
