Biographical Information[edit]
Jackie Mayo was one of the "Whiz Kids" with the Philadelphia Phillies in 1950. After attending the University of Notre Dame from 1944 to 1947, he was up with the Phils six different years. Only once, in 1952, did he get more than 40 at-bats in a season.
Mayo drew a key walk in the 10th inning of Game 2 of the 1950 World Series against the New York Yankees, but his teammates were unable to score him.
Most of his minor league career was spent in the International League.
