Biographical Information[edit]

Jack Peerson had a short major league career but a high batting average of .321.

Although his average looks good, he got only one walk in 18 games, and had little power. He stole no bases in one try. His range in the field, in his limited time in the majors, looked good.

Eric McNair was the regular shortstop in 1935 when Jack had his first season, and McNair was to be traded after the season. Another shortstop given a shot in 1935, Skeeter Newsome, was the same age as Peerson and won the regular job in 1936 but hit only .225, and Jack had his second shot that year in the majors. Newsome was able to keep the job, though, going on to play 1128 lifetime games in the majors with a .245 batting average and an Adjusted OPS+ of 62. Peerson never played in the majors after 1936.

He also played in 1936 for the Williamsport Grays as well as for the Albany Senators of the International League. Later he played for Memphis and St. Paul.
