Biographical Information[edit]
Jack McFetridge pitched an excellent game for the Philadelphia Phillies in 1890 but was not allowed by his father to play further. He did not return to the majors until 1903, at the age of 33, apparently setting the record for the longest gap between wins of any major league pitcher. He was the oldest pitcher on the staff of the Phillies that season. In between his two major league stints he was a famous amateur pitcher.
In 1910 he managed in the Delco Baseball League.
He died in 1917 at age 47. His obituary says he was ill during most of the 1903 season. His father ran a publishing house.
