Biographical Information[edit]
Texas Jack Kraus pitched 13 seasons (1937 to 1950), three in the Major Leagues and ten in the minors, losing one year to the Military. He served in the U.S. Army as a Private during World War II (1944) (VA). He pitched for the Philadelphia Blue Jays and New York Giants from 1943 to 1946.
Kraus won 131 games in the minors and had a string of impressive over-.500 years (going back to 1938) when he joined the Blue Jays in 1943. He was a teammate of Carl Furillo at Montreal in 1942.
He died at age 57 and is buried at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX.
