Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Jack Kochanowicz was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in the 3rd round of the 2019 amateur draft, out of a high school in Pennsylvania. After pitching in their minor league system for three and a half seasons (he only made his professional debut in 2021, as the COVID-19 pandemic wiped out the 2020 minor league season), he was called up by the Angels to make his major league debut on July 11, 2024. He allowed 5 runs on 7 hits in 3 innings to be charged with an 11-0 loss to the Seattle Mariners. His first major league inning was particularly difficult as he gave up a double to J.P. Crawford and single to Josh Rojas, the first two batters he faced, for a first run, followed by two more singles and a hit batsman, although Rojas was thrown out at third base to save a run. He finally retired a batter on his own when Ty France, the sixth man up that inning, hit into a force out, but that resulted in a second run and Jorge Polanco singled as well to make it 4-0. He finally got out of the inning when Mitch Haniger was the victim of his first big league strikeout. He also gave up a solo homer to Matt Raleigh to lead off the 3rd, and was removed after that inning, having thrown 60 pitches.
