Biographical Information[edit]
Jack Flater pitched five games for the 1908 Philadelphia Athletics, posting a 2.06 ERA. He was three years older than teammate Eddie Collins.
"Pitcher Jack Flater, of Williamsport, who during the early portion of the season was the hard-luck twirler of the team, has struck his stride." - Sporting Life of August 8, 1908, about a month before Jack made his major league debut
He was also referred to in the press as John Flater.
