Biographical Information[edit]
In his only big league action, "Happy Jack" Cameron played 18 games with the 1906 Boston Beaneaters, batting .180 in 61 at bats while pitching to a 0.00 ERA in 2 mound appearances. During this time, Cameron participated in a very unusual double play, as recounted in a SABR article [1]. Jack O'Neill was catching and Cameron was pitching to Al Burch of the St. Louis Cardinals. Burch hit the ball, which struck Cameron in the head and flew back to O'Neill, who caught it and threw it to first base to double up the runner off first base. Cameron was given an assist, left the game, and did not play again for a week.
