Biographical Information[edit]
"Jack Blott's contributions to the University of Michigan as an athlete, as a coach, and as a staff member earned him a special place in Wolverine athletic lore." - from the book Michigan: Champions of the West
Jack Blott appeared in two games with the 1924 Cincinnati Reds. He was born in Girard, OH, near Youngstown, and attended Michigan at the same time as Charlie Gehringer. Jack immediately came to the majors at age 21, making it faster than his Hall of Fame schoolmate. After his two games, Jack decided he liked football better and became a long-time football coach. He worked at Ford Motor Company for a number of years and had other athletic department roles at U of M.
