Biographical Information[edit]

J.J. Trujillo was only the second pitcher since 1900 (and possibly the second pitcher ever) to begin his major league career by giving up a walk-off home run to the very first batter he faced. Andy Messersmith was the first, in 1968. In the 2005 Baseball World Cup, he allowed nine hits, three walks and five runs in four innings for Team USA; he had their highest ERA, 1.12 ahead of Greg Bauer.
