Biographical Information[edit]

J.C. Rodríguez has played in the minors and for the Panamanian national team.

Rodríguez was signed by Oakland Athletics scout Juan Mosquera in 2013. [1] He played 2B, SS, 3B, RF and LF in his pro debut that summer with the DSL Athletics and hit .302/.373/.378 while stealing 12 bases in 17 tries and scoring 33 runs in 64 games. In 2014, he came to the US with the AZL Athletics but struggled on offense (.184/.296/.224) while playing error-free defense in 21 games at 3B, his main spot that year. In 2015, he returned to the same club and hit .214/.476/.286 in 26 games, with 19 walks. He fielded only .870 at the hot corner.

With the 2016 Beloit Snappers, he hit .232/.303/.358 while playing all four infield spots, catcher, pitcher (1/3 IP, 0 R) and the outfield. Still a utility man in 2017, he played primarily left field for Beloit (.244/.348/.373 in 62 G) and Midland RockHounds (.235/.238/.412 in 8 G). For Panama in the 2017 Central American Games, he was 1 for 11 with a walk, hit-by-pitch and sacrifice fly, including an 0-for-3 in the Gold Medal Game loss to Nicaragua. [2]

Rodriguez was hitting coach of the DSL Diamondbacks Black in 2022-2023.
