Biographical Information[edit]
Ivan Howard played four seasons in the major leagues from 1914-17 at a variety of infield and outfield positions. His best year was with the 1915 St. Louis Browns, where he hit .278 in 324 at-bats on a team that hit .246. He played almost as many games at first base as the regular, John Leary.
Ivan's brother Del Howard played in the National League from 1905-09, including in the 1907 and 1908 World Series.
Del Howard managed the Oakland Oaks for seven years (1916-22), at which point brother Ivan took over and managed them for the next seven years (1923-29).
