Biographical Information

Isaac Palencia played three years in the minors.

Palencia debuted in 2004 with Venoco 2, going 2 for 22 with four walks. In 2005, he hit .400/.468/.457 in 22 games for the AZL Brewers, playing 11 games at C and 9 in RF. He struggled defensively, fielding .926 at catcher with five errors and three passed balls while allowing 23 steals in 27 tries. The big Venezuelan's offensive production fell in 2006 (.247/.326/.333 in 28 G for the AZL Brewers) while he fielded .991 at 1B. He resurfaced in Spain's Division de Honor in 2011, hitting .340/.470/.436 with 20 walks in 28 games for CD Pamplona, fielding .969. He had 8 passed balls and allowed 38 steals in 46 attempts. He led his team in average and missed the league's top 10 in OBP by .002.
