Biographical Information[edit]
Iresh Kosala has been on the Sri Lankan national team.
Kosala was the All-Star shortstop in the 2015 East Asian Baseball Cup, hitting .381/.480/.429 and scoring five runs in five games. [1] Sri Lanka's baseball team made their first Asian Games in 2018. He started at short and hit 5th in their opener against fellow newcomer Laos. In the first, he grounded out against Cola Phouangkeo to score Sameera Rathnayake. He was 1 for 6 with two RBI that day and handled four chances error-free in a 15-10 win. [2] The next day, Sri Lanka faced Thailand to end the preliminary round, with a spot in the main round at stake. He was 0 for 3 and had an assist before being replaced by Lasantha Sanjeewa Manna Uthum in a loss. [3]
Kosala was back with Sri Lanka for the 2019 West Asian Baseball Cup, with two runs and two RBI against Nepal and 3 runs and 2 RBI against Iran. Sri Lanka won the title. He was 1 for 5 with a run in the finale, a 5-4 win over Pakistan. [4] He hit .133/.188/.133 with one run and one RBI in five games, fielding .909. [5]
He has served in the Sri Lanka army. [6]
