When the Oakland A's broke their affiliation with the Idaho Falls A's after 1984, an independent team named the Idaho Falls Nuggets kept Pioneer League baseball active in Idaho Falls, ID. The club was the league's worst, going 19-49 and drawing the second-fewest fans (20,647). The next year the city began a long connection to the Atlanta Braves; the presence of Braves prospects made the Idaho Falls Braves far more competitive than the Nuggets.
