Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Ian Clarkin was selected by the New York Yankees and scout David Keith in the first round of the 2013 amateur draft. He soon signed for a $1.65 million bonus and made his pro debut that summer with the GCL Yankees, going 0-2 in 3 starts. He began 2014 with the Charleston RiverDogs and was promoted to the Tampa Yankees later that season. Between the two stops, he went 4-3, 3.12 in 17 games, striking out 75 batters in as many innings. He missed the entire 2015 season with an injury, only returning in time to take part in the Arizona Fall League. In 2016, however, he spent the season back with Tampa, going 6-9, 3.31 in 18 starts, logging 98 innings. He was again with Tampa at the start of 2017 and was 4-4, 2.61 after 14 games when on July 18th, he was traded to the Chicago White Sox alongside two other prospects, Tito Polo and Blake Rutherford, and major league reliever Tyler Clippard in return for three big leaguers, 3B Todd Frazier and Ps Tommy Kahnle and David Robertson.
