Biographical Information[edit]

Hung-Kuei Chen played in the CPBL for 6 years.

Chen was drafted by the Brother Elephants in the 9th round of the 2011 CPBL Draft, and he hit .228/.333/.298 in 42 games in his rookie year. He was mainly placed in the minor league in 2013 as Shih-Hao Huang shined, and he hit .325/.378/.411 with 25 steals there. Chen also led the minor league in triples, runs and stolen bases in 2011. Thus, he won a spot with the big club in 2014, but he only recorded a .105/.150/.105 batting line in 23 games. Chen hit .277/.322/.401 in 50 games in the minors in 2015, then he announced his retirement. He coached the minor league team of the CTBC Brothers from 2015 to 2019, and he became a coach for their big club in 2020.

Overall, Chen had hit .195/.303/.247 with 15 hits in 4 seasons in the CPBL.
