Biographical Information[edit]

Hsuan-Jen Hsieh played in the CPBL for 5 years. His uncle is former CPBL All-Star pitcher and manager Chang-Heng Hsieh.

Hsieh was drafted by the Sinon Bulls in the 9th round of the 2009 CPBL Draft, and he hit .352/.397/.434 in the minor league in 2010. He won the batting title there, and he also led the league with 77 hits. The Bulls then traded him to the Lamigo Monkeys, and he hit .294/.347/.338 in 36 games in 2011. He was 3-for-8 in the 2011 Taiwan Series, but the Monkeys were beaten by the Uni-President Lions in 5 games. Hsieh then hit .288/.357/.413 in 2012, and his batting line was .301/.376/.333 in 75 games in 2013. However, the Monkeys had plenty of talented outfielders like Chih-Yao Chan and Cheng-Yu Chung, so Hsieh was placed in the minor league for most of the next three seasons. He only played 17 games combined before he announced his retirement in 2015.

Overall, Hsieh had hit .290/.355/.343 with 119 hits in 5 seasons in the CPBL.
