Biographical Information[edit]

Hiroyuki Miura pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball for 3 years.

Miura was selected by the Hankyu Braves in the third round of the 1977 NPB draft, and he was 4-1 with a 3.48 ERA in 1978. He was the first high school graduate to win his first decision in NPB history. Miura had a 7-10 record with a 4.20 ERA in 1979, and he was selected into the 1979 NPB All-Star Game. He relieved Yutaro Imai in the 9th inning Game 1, and he allowed a RBI triple to Koji Yamamoto while fanning 2 (Masayuki Kakefu and John Sipin). Miura then succeeded Naoki Takahashi in the 3rd inning of Game 3, and he pitched 2 innings with a run allowed. However, he only had 9 appearances in 1980, and he never played another game with the big club before he announced his retirement in 1983.

Overall, Miura was 14-14 with a 4.10 ERA, struck out 129 and pitched 208 2/3 innings in 3 years in NPB.
