Biographical Information[edit]
Undrafted out of college, Hirotoshi Watanabe signed with the Nishitetsu Lions in 1970. They released him in 1971. Three years later, the Hanshin Tigers signed him. He allowed one hit and one walk in four shutout innings in 1974 but gave up 7 hits, 2 walks and 3 runs in five innings in 1975. That was it for his time in Nippon Pro Baseball. Watanabe managed the Pakistani national team in the 2003 Asian Championship (their Asian Championship debut) and coached for the Thai national team in the 2006 Asian Games, 2007 Baseball World Cup and 2010 Asian Games.
