Biographical Information[edit]

Hiroshi Urano has pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Urano played for Sega Sammy in the industrial leagues after college. He helped Japan win a Gold in the 2013 East Asian Games. The Nippon-Ham Fighters took him in the second round of the 2013 NPB draft. He debuted on April 5, 2014 starting against the Chunichi Dragons. He pitched 6 innings, and allowed 2 runs for a no-decision. Urano ended up 7-4 with a 3.68 ERA in the 2014 season. Urano suffered a right shoulder injury, and missed the entire 2016 season, and most of the 2017 season. The Shizuoka native came back and recorded a 2.16 ERA in 35 relief outings in 2018. However, his ERA rose to 4.98 in 2019, and he spent the 2020 season in the NPB Farm League. Urano announced his retirement after the 2020 season.

Urano throws a fastball (peak 93.8 mph) and curveball.

Overall, Urano was 18-13 with a 3.87 ERA and pitched 267 1/3 innings in six seasons in NPB.
